Welcome to TNK .beat Calc! The .beat internet time was invented in 1998 by Swatch. One day has 1000 beats, @000 being at midnight in the +1 time zone during winter time. This time format is useful especially on the internet. Let's say you live in Upstate New York, and you want to chat with you Swiss friend, your Chinese friend, and your Russian friend. Trying to calaberate a time to do that would be very hard, because you would have to say something like "6 p.m. my time." With .beat, the time is the same everywhere, so you can say "at @000," which would be 6 p.m. in Upstate New York. My program converts this time easily! Directions: Send beat.83p and beatset.83p to your TI-83. Send beat.8xp and beatset.8xp to your TI-83 Plus. Run BEATSET Here you enter your time zone. (e.g. London=0, New York=-5, Frankfurt=1) ***NOTE: Do NOT enter a "+" if your time zone is ahead of GMT, just the number!"*** Then enter 0 if you are observing winter time, or 1 if you are observing Daylight Savings Time. Now you can run BEAT! Version 1.1, Friday, December 1, 2000 Fixes a tiny but important problem. HISTORY Version 1.0, Thursday, November 30, 2000 Had a small error in it, that rounded off beats, instead of rounding down. kai@newkai.com newkai.com AIM: newkai com
